Tools
This game was created with Articulate Storyline, Canva, and an online pixelation tool.
Overview
The game was created to teach people about recycling in an interesting and fun way. Curbside Pickup is highly customized and programmed, giving learners a sense of a playing an old-school game. All of the interactions and programming were done in Storyline, using creative triggers and variables to create timers, a scoring system, state changes, and an overall fun experience.
Process
I used rapid prototyping for this game, starting with a shell to test the triggers and interactions necessary to set up a scoring system. The first prototype included simple icons and little to no design elements.
Final Product
The final product includes full design elements, a timer, changing states for the scores, music, plus tones to let the player know points have been earned or lost. I also generated pixelated images and kept the theme throughout. The game ends with a call to action to get players to learn more about recycling efforts in the United States and globally.
